In a significant move to support local farmers and enhance the security of their livelihoods, the Bishnupur District Co-operative Milk Union Limited (BIMUL), in collaboration with the National Insurance Company (NIC), has launched a door-to-door livestock insurance programme. This initiative, under the aegis of the National Livestock Mission (NLM) and the guidance of the Joint Director of Bishnupur Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur, began on June 22, 2024. The programme focuses on providing insurance for dairy and piggery livestock, ensuring farmers receive the necessary coverage to protect their valuable assets.

Programme Launch

The livestock insurance programme was officially launched at the office of the Representative of The Bishnupur District Milk Co-Operative Union Ltd. (BIMUL) in Bishnupur District. The event marked the beginning of a dedicated effort to reach out to farmers directly, providing them with comprehensive insurance coverage for their dairy and piggery livestock.
